Dominic from Compass Bars says about the winners for Best Open Houses Award
Open Houses Award
Winner 2007 The Dragonfly House.
48 Ditchling Rise, Brighton, BN1 4QN
"The Dragonfly House, definitely captures the creative spirit of the Open Houses event. Even the dreadful weather could not deter the public flocking in to see everything from ‘Buttony things’ to Watercolours and etchings. After a warm welcome, the eclectic mix of art and craft set within this charismatic house blended perfectly, with plenty of the artists on hand to consult on their work and inspiration. With as many as 17 artists exhibiting the work, all were thoughtfully presented and made it a joy to see a house transform into a gallery space for a few days in May. Congratulations to all those who took part and we look forward to next year."

Runner Up 2007 13 Mrs B
36 Bates Rd, Brighton, BN1 6PG
"Mrs B, as with one of the pieces of work exhibited, we certainly left your Open House ‘Feeling rather lovely’, another wonderful mix of artwork, bright and beautifully crafted felt pieces, to a lively sculpture garden, complete with homemade marquee to keep the rain at bay. All presented very well within a relatively small space. It shows what can be achieved to bring your artwork to a wider audience. Congratulations we hope to see more next year."
