Ourhouse private view

Ourhouse private view

Hopefully, the weather this weekend will be a bit more sympathetic to the Open House festival. I must confess on Sunday I only managed to visit Tina Davies‘ award-winning house (venue 50) – I had intended to head towards the sea and thence to Hove, but was beaten back by the wind and rain (well, I was on my bike!). Tina has apologised that her house isn’t very wheelchair accessible – the symbol in the brochure appeared by mistake – and there are several steps into the beautiful house. As well as Tina’s gorgeous and even more colourful paintings (see Flickr) she’s also showing wooden automata by Helen Sinden. No cakes either, I’m afraid!

Meanwhile we have had the following messages:

Lisa Gellender from venue 22 writes:

Ourhouse celebrated the start of the Christmas festival in style, with a full house at the Private View last Friday evening (see photo above – more photos on Flickr). Friends and strangers from London to Brighton joined the festive celebrations and with all 9 artists on hand to talk about their work the evening was great fun and a big success! Thanks to everyone. Cardigan’s exclusive knitwear kept the girls busy in the mirror, whilst fashion stylist Polly Banks’ embroidered family heirlooms and Alice Gabb’s quirky vintage toys all added to the fresh, unique art works on offer. With so much lovely gift ideas to choose from this Christmas and only 2 more weekends to go, we hope to see you at Ourhouse very soon.

Kate Osborne (venue 41) reminds us that they are open this coming weekend, and for anyone who spotted the deliberate mistake on her mailout (wrong dates, now amended!) an extra large glass of mulled wine and all the mince pies you can eat!

And, if you like Russian music, Polina Shepherd’s choir will be singing at 1pm on Sunday at venue 61, 62-64 Marine Parade.

Finally, check out these podcast interviews with some of our Open Houses by Vobes radio http://vobes.com/artists.php.

Please keep sending in your news – and please post up your photos in the AOH Flickr group.
