The Egg House still has our massive Egg sculpture in the garden, which will now be a permanent fixture on Havelock Road. It even has solar lighting at night, which attracts attention constantly from passersby as they ponder what on earth it’s all about, down this nice suburban street!

Children’s artwork was done in response to the egg, which is still available for viewing. Some great stuff! Elvis even makes a come back… We asked what they thought might be in the egg or come from the egg. A very open exercise in creativity!

We also are yet to name the egg. Some people think it looks like the peach from James and the Giant Peach, due partly to the ladder running around it.

It was our first year and we were 1 of 10 (from the 240 total) shortlisted for Best Open house.

We are planning to do a few events throughout the year under The Egg House banner. We will be a happening space with a strong community involvement as well as a gallery. We are also planning to do a food event in the Autumn around harvest time, a la the Home Restaurant movement.
